What a lasting power of attorney does
Names the person who may handle your finances and personal affairs if illness or injury means you no longer can. It is the Swedish alternative to having a court appoint a god man, and you choose who it is while you still can.
In Sweden this document is called Framtidsfullmakt. It is worth learning the Swedish term: it is what a bank, a housing association, an employer or an authority will ask you for, and searching for the English name alone will often turn up rules from another country that do not apply here. The rules come from The Lasting Powers of Attorney Act, lag (2017:310) om framtidsfullmakter, and the questions you answer while creating the document are the ones that statute makes relevant.

- Your family is spread across several countries.

How it works
- Sign in and answer the questions. An account is required. Some templates require a Swedish personal identity number; the builder asks one question at a time and shows the finished text updating as you go.

- Pay once, at the end. 1 195 kr, including VAT, only when the document is finished and you have seen it.
- Complete the required formalities. A Swedish future power of attorney requires two witnesses who are present at the same time. Since 1 July 2026, all three may sign electronically, but each signature must be an advanced electronic signature under section 4a of Act (2017:310). Avtalsfrid's ordinary signing flow is therefore not used for this document.
Being straight about language: this page, the guides and our support are in English. That is not a universal rule that every Swedish agreement must be written in Swedish: the accepted language can depend on the document, its form requirements and the recipient. Questions
Will the lasting power of attorney be in Swedish or English?
Our current service produces the finished document in Swedish so Swedish counterparties, banks and authorities can work with it directly. Swedish law does not impose one universal language rule for every lasting power of attorney, and an English agreement or translation is not automatically without legal effect. What is accepted can depend on the document's form requirements, the agreed governing language and the recipient's own requirements. Which law applies to a lasting power of attorney in Sweden?
The Lasting Powers of Attorney Act, lag (2017:310) om framtidsfullmakter. The template is designed for a Swedish-law situation. Where you live, where property is located and whether another country is involved can affect jurisdiction, recognition and tax, so cross-border cases should be checked individually.
Is it valid if I am not a Swedish citizen?
Citizenship is usually not the deciding factor. This service is for a lasting power of attorney governed by Swedish law and connected to Sweden. Cross-border property, residence, tax or family circumstances can change the analysis, so ask for individual advice if more than one country is involved. You do not need a Swedish personal identity number to create the draft.
What does it cost?
1 195 kr including VAT. That is the whole price: no subscription, no per-signature fee and no charge for e-signing. If you would rather have one of our lawyers draft or review it for you, that is a separate fixed price of 4 490 kr.
